Global Update: Who’s where and doing what
Clarence Tan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels. He was most recently with InterContinental Hotels Group as Managing Director South East Asia and Korea.
Aimbridge Hospitality has appointed Erica Hageman to the newly created position of Chief Government Affairs Officer. Hageman is a former General Counsel for Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
The Marcus Corporation announced the appointment of Michael R. Evans as President of its Marcus® Hotels & Resorts division. Evans was most recently the Chief Executive Officer of Apex Capital Ventures in Las Vegas.
Marco Selva has joined sbe in Miami as Area Vice President. Selva is the former Managing Director of the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort & Residences.
Sean Verney has been named Area General Manager of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. He was previously in Manhattan as General Manager of the Sheraton New York Time Square and the Westin Times Square.
Rudy Sharp is now in Phoenix as Resort General Manager of the Pointe Hilton Squaw Creek Resort. For the past three years, he had been with Telluride Ski and Golf as Vice President Hospitality. Sharp is the former Vice President Regional Managing Director for Noble House Hotels and Resorts.
Alain Negueloua has moved to the Bardessono Hotel & Spa as Vice President and General Manager. He was most recently overseeing the Napa Valley Las Alcobas. Negueloua is the former General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental Boston, Meadowood Napa Valley, and The Mark in New York.
Bethany Foxworth has joined FirstService Residential New York as General Manager. She was most recently the Assistant General Manager of the AKA Central Park.
Kevin Geanides has returned to Little Palm Island Resort & Spa to take on the new role of General Manager. He had previously served as Resort Manager before moving into the role of General Manager of the Post Ranch Inn and, most recently, Timbers Resorts’ Private Residences & Club Kauai.
Yves Pierre Gérondeau has joined Hard Rock International as Area Vice President of Operations – Latin America. He was most recently the Breathless Brand Director for AMResorts.
Alain Berthelot has moved to the NH Collection Reforma Mexico City as Managing Director. He was most recently the General Manager of El Careyes Club & Residences. Berthelot is the former Managing Director of the Grand Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta and Live AQUA & Grand Fiesta Americana Monterrey Valle.
The Carillon Miami Wellness Resort has appointed Patrick Fernandes Executive Managing Director. Most recently, Fernandes served as Hotel Manager of Faena Hotel Miami Beach.
Rob Cinelli has been appointed General Manager of the Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon. He had previously served as Senior Vice President, Casino Operations, at the Venetian and Palazzo, and had been with the Las Vegas Sands Corporation since 2011.
Nicolas Dubort has returned to Mandarin Oriental to take on the role of Hotel Manager of the Mandarin Oriental Washington, D.C. He had previously served as Director of Food and Beverage of the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and the Mandarin Oriental New York before taking on his most recent role as Hotel Manager of the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta.
James Proctor has moved to Auberge du Soleil as Director of Operations. He was most recently in the same role at Las Alcobas, Napa Valley. Proctor has previously served with Montage International as Director of Food and Beverage of the Montage Kapalua Bay and the Montage Beverly Hills.
Danielle Hirsch has been appointed Design Manager for Wilson Associates in Los Angeles. She was most recently with Hirsch Bedner & Associates.
Fabien Rivière has joined the Parker Palm Springs as Director of Restaurants. He was most recently with the Fairmont Grand Del Mar as General Manager of Amaya Restaurant. Rivière is the former General Manager of Studio in the Montage Laguna Beach and Felix in the Peninsula Hong Kong.
David Griffin has been named Director of Sales and Marketing of the Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort (formerly known as Sheraton Bay Point Resort). Most recently, Griffin served as Director of Sales and Marketing of the Loews Hotel Minneapolis.
The Cavalier Hotel & Beach Club has appointed Javier Cuesta Executive Chef. He was most recently the Corporate Executive Chef of DouroAzul. He is the former Executive Chef of the St. Regis Washington, D.C. and the Gran Meliá Golf Resort Puerto Rico.
Kay Bonsu has been appointed Executive Chef of the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. Bonsu is the former Executive Chef of the Killarney Mountain Lodge, Arthur’s Landing, and the Rawley Resort, Spa & Marina.
The Garden of the Gods Resort and Club has appointed Thomas Hartwell Executive Chef. Most recently, he served as Chef de Cuisine at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort.
The Hilton Mystic has named Jamey Hence Restaurant Chef for the IRONS Restaurant. He is the former Executive Chef for the Roberts Food Store and Executive Chef and General Manager for The Grateful Deli & Bagel Shoppe.
Frank Marrenbach has joined Althoff Hotels as Managing Partner. He was most recently the Chief Executive Officer of the Oetker Collection. Marrenbach had previously managed the Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, the Steigenberger Grandhotel Petersberg, and the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof.
The Oetker Collection has promoted Dr. Timo Gruenert to Chief Executive Officer, taking over from Frank Marrenbach. Gruenert has been with the company since 2009, most recently as Chief Financial Officer and Co-Managing Director.
The NoMad London has named Kate Hart General Manager. Hart was previously overseeing the Capital Hotel in London, which has been owned by the Levin family for 49 years and sold to Warwick Hotels and Resorts in January 2017.
Michael Voigt has joined The Goring in London as General Manager, replacing Stuart Geddes, who is now Hotel Manager at The Lanesborough.
Johan Scheepers has joined the InterContinental Edinburgh The George as General Manager. He was most recently overseeing the Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel in Edinburgh.
Kieran Quinn has been appointed General Manager of the Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel, taking over from Johan Scheepers. Quinn was most recently with the Crowne Plaza Edinburgh Royal Terrace as General Manager.
Gordon Shaw has been named Hotel Manager of the Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel. He was most recently in the same role at the Blythswood Square Hotel in Glasgow.
ASIA AND THE PACIFIC
Omar Romero has been promoted to Chief Development Officer at Six Senses Resorts Spas. Since 2012 he had served the company as Vice President Development.
Tony Chisholm has joined KSL Capital Partners as Principal, Head of APAC Hospitality. He was most recently with GCP Hospitality as Chief Operations Officer. Chisholm was previously with Accor as Area General Manager South Vietnam and General Manager of the Pullman Saigon.
MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA
Julian Griffiths has joined the Atlantis The Royal Resort and Residences in Dubai as Vice President Food and Beverage. He was most recently with the Patina Restaurant Group as Chief Operating Officer. Griffiths had previously overseen food and beverage at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, the Mirage, and the Wynn.
Nachwan Koukach has been appointed Executive Chef of the Mövenpick Hotel Ibn Battuta Gate Dubai. He had previously held culinary positions at Burj Al Arab, the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain, the Westin Mina Seyahi, and has been with Mövenpick for more than nine years in a number of roles.
