• Employment in leisure and hospitality increased little by 31,000 in Auguest, following average monthly gains of 90,000 in the first 7 months of the year.
  
• Employment in leisure and hospitality is down by 1.2 million, or 7.2 percent, since February 2020.

• Kathleen Barone joined Crescent Hotels & Resorts as Vice President of Global Sales. She brings more than 25 years of hotel sales and revenue management experience to the company and its portfolio of over 100 hotels and resorts in the United States and Canada.
• Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is delighted to announce the appointment of Ritchard Cariaga as Executive Chef. He will be responsible for overseeing the menus and staff for all food and beverage programming.
• Otis Dickerson named Executive Chef at The Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel. In this role, he will oversee the culinary operations of the hotel including banquets and catering.
• The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa Avon, Vail Valley is pleased to announce Molly Gallagher as Spa Manager at Spa Anjali. She has been a part of the Spa Anjali team since 2009, starting as a Massage Therapist.
• Hotel Del Coronado, a part of Curio Collection by Hilton announced the appointment of Danielle Boyles as Commercial Director. She will maintain strategic commercial leadership of various hotel teams including sales and marketing.
• Hilton appoints Sean McCarron as General Manager. He is a hospitality veteran with more than 25 years of experience who began his career in food and beverage.
• Jill Yurko has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at Hilton. He has spent the last 15 years holding the position of senior sales manager.
• Stonebridge Cos. Welcomes Steve Kakaty as Chief Investment Officer. With more than 16 years of experience he will spearhead Stonebridge’s platform.
• Caribe Royale Orlando appoints Phil Klinkenberg as Hotel Manager. In this role, he will directly oversee food & beverage and room division operations. He has over 30 years of hospitality experience holding different roles.
• Epicurean Hotel announced Jon Atanacio as Executive Chef. He will direct daily culinary operations of the hotel.
• Kristin Assad has been appointed as Vice President, General Manager at Hotel Drover, an Autograph Collection hotel. She is a well-respected leader with more than two decades of luxury hospitality experience.
• Ryan Thomas takes up the position of Assistant General Manager at Hotel Drover, an Autograph Collection hotel. He has a background that spans from brand strategy to operations.
• Elga Sickler has been appointed as Vice President of People and culture at Hotel Drover. With more than 20 years of experience building and developing successful teams, she brings a sense of comfort and inclusivity to the new Fort Worth stunner.
• Hotel Drover announced the appointment of Alexie Estrada as Director of Resort Marketing. She brings more than 10 years of luxury marketing and social media experience to her role at Hotel Drover. 
• Leah Meyer appointed as Pastry Chef at Kimpton Cottonwood. She will oversee all pastry operations at the newly reinvented historic property, leading a team in designing dessert offerings.
• Mondrian South Beach is delighted to announce Anthony Rico as General Manager. He has proudly held a variety of executive level positions across multiple luxury properties.
• Liza Stone joined Virgin Hotels as General Counsel. She brings to Virgin Hotels over 25 years of legal experience in domestic and cross-border hospitality transactions. 
• Jodi Forslund has been appointed as Corporate Director of Sales at Virgin Hotels. She will be responsible for leveraging revenue opportunities and analyzing current financial initiatives.
• Joe Lupo has been named as President at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. He will take over the role once the Nevada Gaming Commission licensing process has concluded. 
• Anthony Faranca has been promoted to President at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City. He is a seasoned casino executive with extensive experience managing large gaming properties.

• JW Marriott Nashville is proud to announce the appointment of Chris Mitchum as Director of Food & Beverage. He is a certified sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers.
• Bobby Barnes has been promoted as Resort Manager at Innisbrook, A Salamander Resort. He has spent more than 11 years at Innisbrook as director of golf and head golf professional.
• Innisbrook, A Salamander Resort appointed Andrew Corry as Director of Golf. He will be responsible for directing and leading golf operations for the resort's 72 holes of golf.
• Vanessa Williams has been appointed as General Manager at Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg & Golf Club. She is a South African native who brings thirty years of experience in luxury hotels.
• Benchmark, Pyramid Luxury & Lifestyle named Sam Johnson as Vice President, Operations. He will support the Seattle and Portland, WA markets as they grow their portfolio in each region.
• Graeme Benn has been appointed as Dual General Manager at JW Marriott Parq Vancouver & the DOUGLAS, Autograph Collection. He responsible for overseeing both luxury properties.
• The Josie Hotel, Autograph Collection welcomes Takashi Harada as Executive Chef. He oversees culinary for banquets and events as well as in-room dining at the hotel.
• Kit Pappas named Vice President of Asset Performance – East at KSL Resorts. He is charged with overseeing operations of KSL Resort's East Coast portfolio.
• The iconic Kimpton Canary Hotel in Santa Barbara recently appointed Richard Woodrow Cox as General Manager of the hotel. He has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. 
• Rhonda Khabir has been promoted as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Aqua – Aston Hospitality. Her responsibilities include business and market expansion, strategic direction for promotion and advertising, sales success, customer satisfaction, and leadership.
• Anthony Geary has been appointed as Sommelier at Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis. He leads the Hotel's wine program and is responsible for achieving its many accolades.
• Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis welcomes Alisha Blackwell – Calvert as Sommelier of the hotel. Her experience includes working alongside now Master Sommelier Andrey Ivanov at Reeds American Table in St. Louis.

• The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale has appointed Jira Baird as Pastry Chef of the luxury property. She plays an essential role in the overall culinary operations for resort.
• The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale has appointed Paula DaSilva to Director of Culinary and Beverage of the property. She is a rising star and later as an executive chef and one of the areas foremost talents in the realm of soulful, farm fresh cuisine.
• Randy Romero has been appointed as General Manager at Sable at Navy Pier Chicago, Curio Collection by Hilton. He brings with him over 25 years of experience in Chicago market.
• Donna Cooper joined Spire Hospitality as the new Senior Vice President of Commercial Strategy. In her new role, she will focus on optimizing revenue across the organization.

• Birch Street Systems in Las Vegas announces the addition of Aaron smith as Account Executive. Smith brings with him experience in the hospitality industry focused on enterprise software.
• Media & Analytics at Tambourine in Fort Lauderdale is pleased to announce the recent promotion of Christina Davis to Vice President. She oversees all of Tambourine's performance media products for Tambourine's portfolio of independent and branded hotels and resorts.

• Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills is pleased to announce that Estérel has reopened with Executive Chef Fernando Bedolla. He introduces a new menu that is a true love letter to Los Angeles' diverse cultures, tastes and influences.
• James Karabelas appointed as Regional Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Highgate Hotels, Hawaii. He as more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, he will lead High gate’s sales and marketing team across its 10 properties and expanding portfolio in Hawaii.
• Oxford Hotels & Resorts, LLC and The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood announce the appointment of Konstantine Kabilafkas as general manager. • Partha Das appointed as Key Account Management, at Hotelogix, Thailand. The company aims to leverage Nik's expertise to consolidate its position while serving its existing hotel groups in the Southeast Asian country.

South America:

• Marriott International is pleased to announce the appointment of Diana De Rojas as General Manager of the Fairfield by Marriott San Jose Airport Alajuela hotel. She is the first woman in Costa Rica to simultaneously hold the position of General Manager of two hotels.
• Wind Creek Hospitality has announced the appointment of Janien Huistra as Director of Sales & Marketing of their Caribbean resort portfolio. She as 25 years of hospitality industry experience. She will lead both teams to drive revenue while preparing and executing innovative sales and marketing strategies.
• Apple Leisure group in Mexico city welcoming Sergio Rascón as Vice President of Development. In His role he will be focused on delivering unmatched hospitality expertise to hotel owners looking to invest in new assets or boost existing hotel property performance across Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and Europe.
• Marcela Steffens has been appointed General Manager at Marriott Barranquilla Hotel. Steffens has 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, she has leadership positions which enriched her as an integral professional in the hospitality industry.

• Crowne Plaza Yas Island has appointed Do Van Quy as Chef De Cuisine for Jing Asia. He will lead cooking classes for authentic hand-pulled noodles as well as hosting his own pop-up every Sunday.
• Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown has brought in Cecilia Natalia as the new Marketing and PR Manager. She is an experienced marketer and PR professional, having worked with a number of high-profile global brands.
• Derek Sands has been appointed as Executive Vice President at Wynn Design & Development. He steps into the role in the northern emirate and has already moved to the UAE.
• Torno Subito at W Dubai – The Palm welcomes the new Chef de Cuisine, Alessio Pirozzi. He comes to Dubai with plenty of experience in top kitchens. 
• Sushanth Nambiar has been named the new General Manager for Novotel Muscat Airport hotel in Oman. He will leverage more than two decades of experience to oversee day-to-day operations.
• The Grand Hyatt Muscat has appointed Joerg Wickihalder as General Manager. As General Manger he handles the day-to-day operations of 278 hotel keys and eight dining outlets.
• Franco Canzano has been appointed as Executive Chef at Melia Deset Plam in Dubai. He is expertise in Mediterranean cuisine and Italian, his focus will be on the elevation of the resorts Rare restaurant, and also oversee culinary operations.
• Marco Acquaroli has joined Atlantis The Palm Dubai as Executive Sous Chef. He has more than 10 years of experience, in his new role he will be focused on culinary operations, concept development, logistics and menu creations for all the mentioned restaurants.
• Guyana Mariott Hotel Geargetown happily announced Chandra swamy as Executive Chef. With his 26 years of experience in culinary industry, he will oversee all culinary operations for the hotel's corporate and social catering services.
• Sidi Fikri has been appointed as Executive Assistant Manager at Al Raha Beach Hotel. He moved to the property from Rotana, where he was also an executive assistant manager.
• Kim Thuy Trang has been appointed as Marketing & Communications Manager at Anantara Downtown Dubai Hotel. He joins the five-star hotel in her first role outside of her native Vietnam. 
• Holiday Villa Hotel & Residence Doha is delighted to welcome Chef Salih Aydin, as the new Turkish Specialty Chef to its new Icono View Restaurant. He has more than 20 years of experience working in four five-star hotels, and healthcare industry with good nutritional and well-balanced cuisines.
• Soner Kaymaz was announced as assistant Chef at Holiday Villa Hotel & Residence Doha. He started his career in 2008, with 14 years of experience working in renowned restaurants and hotel restaurants.
• NH Dubai the Palm has named its general manager as Manish Jha. He has more than 20 years of hospitality experience; He spent working across the minor hotels stable.
• Al-Amoud starts this month as director of HR at St. Regis Riyadh. He as more than decade of experience, he joined Marriott in 2015 as HR supervisor and later promoted as assistant HR Manager, and now he was appointed as HR director of the hotel.
• Nicolas Talon has been appointed executive director of F&B at Atlantis Dubai. He has 20 years of experience across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. 
• Jan Tibaldi has been appointed Cluster General Manager at One & Only One Za’abeel Resort and Private Homes. He brings with him over 33 years of hospitality experience.
• Tamer Refaat has been promoted to position of director of sales and marketing for Shangri-La and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri. He will now be managing the overall sales and marketing strategy and its execution.
• Lapita, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Autograph Collection has appointed Amit Baswas as new Director of Sales and Marketing. He will play a key role in developing sales and marketing strategies across all segments to drive growth and commercial productivity.
• Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites is pleased to welcome Elena Mogonova as Director of Sales. She has over 12 years of sales experience across the UAE and Russia.
• Amrita Kaul has been appointed as Human Resources Manager at Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites. She has been working on her transition into a new department.
